Introduction :: Situation Report and Policy Recommendations for Prisons and Correctional Institutions on the Covid-19 Pandemic The Covid-19 pandemic has created a complex challenge for prisons around the world. In overcrowded and under-resourced prison systems, concern over the virus continues to rise as a result of inadequate sanitation and insufficient access to healthcare including medicines, equipment and staff. As this pandemic spreads, congestion in prisons and limited access to healthcare will inevitably lead to an increase in the risk of infection and transmission of the virus in prisons. Moreover, it has the potential to affect the community outside as well.
